Our Story
In October 2006, OISCA agreed to form a partnership with ATAKU cooperativa de Colonizacion Argentina Ltda. (hereinafter referred as ATAKU) to collaborate and promote activities that share interests such as tree planting activities, teaching of the Japanese language and culture for children of Japanese descent, and the spread of safe food.
ATAKU is an organization established in 1953 with the aim of establishing a system for accepting Japanese immigrants to Argentina and some to Paraguay. It has a half-century track record of large-scale tree planting projects in the northern province of Misiones which borders Brazil and Paraguay. Currently, they are carrying out the Children’s Forest Program (CFP) activities mainly in the Misiones Province.
