Our Story

Representatives of OISCA International visited Rio de Janeiro in June 1992 to participate in the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (Earth Summit). The group had friendly gatherings with the people of Brazil and discussed shared issues. People who took an interest in the OISCA Movement formed OISCA Brazil Chapter. Their initial project was reorganizing and restarting courses of Kochia Agricultural School, which had suspended its activities since its parent body – Kochia Agricultural Cooperative in Jakalei, Sao Paulo, dissolved.

OISCA Brazil Chapter carried out a unique program from 2000 to 2004 to train 230 young farmers from eight countries with grant assistance from the American Development Bank. They have implemented a project to make the 21st Century Forest since 2009. This afforestation project aims to plant 100,000 trees with volunteers from different parts of the country.
