Our Story
In response to a request from the Girl Guides Association of Thailand (GGAT), OISCA started guidance of agricultural technology in Surin Province in the Northeastern Thailand. It was difficult, however, to farm on land where forests had been lost due to logging, and they started planting trees with the idea that restoration of the basic natural environment was the first priority.
Aside from the Children’s Forest Program (CFP) activities, tree planning and organic farming dissemination, they are also carrying out activities that contribute to regional development through community forests throughout Thailand. Also, in the south, they have carried out mangrove tree planting projects, and in the past, provided support for the recovery project to Ban Talae Nok village damaged by the Sumatra Earthquake. In addition, in the north, as FURUSATO development project centered on forest development, they are implementing a project that comprehensively combines the organization of local residents, tree planting, environment education and regional development.
Going forward, they will continue to further develop the CFP activities that they have continued for many years, raise awareness of the young people who will lead the future for sustainable development in harmony with nature, focus on fostering leaders and create sustainable communities through developing model initiatives in each region.
