December 8, 2022

The OISCA Thai Chapter has continued reforestation in mountainous and coastal areas with support from Japanese donors, starting with tree planting activities in Northeast Thailand in 1980. So far, they have planted trees in about 2,500 hectares, including trees planted at schools participating in the Children’s Forest Program (CFP) which began in 1992. In recent years, they have been focusing on initiatives aimed at improving livelihood of local residents while utilizing the blessings of the forests they have nurtured.

These long-standing tree planting activities were highly evaluated as “a significant contribution to building a better environment and society as well as to sustainable development”, and on December 8, 2022, OISCA Thailand was commended for the award in the Parliament of the Kingdom of Thailand.

Mr. Ari Choangulia, Chairman of OISCA Thai Chapter, who received the plaque from Gen. Surasak Karnjanarat, Chairman of the Senate standing Committee on Natural Resources and Environment, said, “it is a great honor to be recognized as an environment conservation organization representing the nation. He also expressed his gratitude to the Thai OISCA STAFF who have been involved in the activities and to the supporters who have worked together to promote the tree planting projects.
