Our Story
In 1975, Mr. Benny Jonosiswolo, descendant of the royal family Solo, who was impressed with OISCA‘s unique training method which emphasized on the spirit and discipline, established OISCA Indonesia. In 1976, OISCA Indonesia dispatched first Indonesian trainees to Japan and also invited Japanese technicians and opened a demonstration farm in Bogor, West Java Province. Thereafter, the technicians conducted patrol guidance in Central Java Province, too. Its reputation has come to be known to the Provincial Governor, and in 1978, Asia Pacific Youth Forum for Regional Development sponsored by OISCA was held in Jogjakarta. This was the trigger for the “International Youth Year” declared by the United Nations in 1985. After that, the training base was moved, but starting from Cibubur, West Java Province, human resources development activities at the agricultural training center, forestation activities by the trained personnel, and educational support have been continued.
At present, each training center is promoting leadership development for agricultural youth. To secure the most necessary water for agriculture, tree planting activities are carried out in mountainous areas, environmental education and environment conservation for pupils and students of elementary, junior and senior high schools, and Children’s Forest Program (CFP) promoting tree planting activities, are being deployed.
