On September 26, 2025, the presentation ceremony of a donation by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the OISCA Thai Chapter was held at the Foreign Ministry in Bangkok. H.E. Mrs. Sinlak Niyom, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, handed over the donation to Mr. Ari Choangulia, Chairman of OISCA Thailand. H.E. Masato Otaka, Ambassador of Japan to Thailand, was also present to witness this significant event.
The ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials from the Department of East Asian Affairs of the Thai Foreign Ministry, Japanese Embassy officials, as well as staff of OISCA Thailand.
The donation amounting to 500,00 Baht (about US$15,257) was provided in support of the Environment Restoration and Community Development Project, which OISCA Thailand has been carrying out in Mae Suai district, Chiang Rai Province, Northern Thailand.
The project is aimed at carrying out tree planting and post-planting maintenance activities over 4 hectares of site from 2025 to 2028. In the meantime, OISCA Thailand will conduct workshops for local residents to raise their awareness of environmental conservation, organize resident groups, and promote the development of disaster-resilient communities. In addition, they plan to accept volunteers from Japan, deepen Japan-Thailand friendship, and conduct awareness-raising activities for Japanese citizens. As 2027 marks the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Thailand, this project is planned to be implemented as a commemorative initiative.
