On the 28th of May, Secretary-General Yasuaki Nagaishi and Deputy Chief Minister YB Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Yahya Hussin of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI) of Sabah Malaysia signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) witnessed by Chief Minister YAB Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman.

The MOU was concluded to further strengthen the partnership between OISCA International and MAFI`s local agency, the Korporasi Pembangan Desa (KPD) or the Rural Development Corporation thereby contributing to the community development through the provision of hands-on experiential and intensive agriculture and home economics training among the youths.

Officially signed during the inauguration ceremony of the new administration building in Korporasi Pembangunan Desa (KPD) – OISCA Youth Training Center, it was witnessed by almost 1,000 well wishers and supporters including the local government officials of Sabah, staff and current and former trainees of KPD-OISCA partnership program.

On his speech, MAFI Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Yahya Hussin said that the agriculture sector of Sabah has set the three key targets (contribution of the agricultural sector to the gross national income, create jobs and to increase farmers income twice or four times) to be achieved by 2020.

Since its formation in 1977, the KPD-OISCA Youth Training Center equipped with its agriculture and home economics training facilities has successfully empowered almost 1,500 trainees in Sabah supporting the government`s effort towards creating more agriculture entrepreneurship mindset among the youth thereby uplifting the standard of living among the rural farmers and small scale entrepreneurs.
