On February 5, the donation ceremony of a tractor was held at OISCA Abra Agro-Forestry Training Center located in the northern part of Luzon Island, Philippines, and eight Japanese members, including those from the Hokkaido Branch, participated in the ceremony.
The purchase of the tractor was made possible after the Hokkaido Branch heard from Mr. Delfin Tesoro, the center’s director, that the tractor was needed for agricultural training, and called on its members for support to raise funds.
Also, the Kansai Branch. which has long supported the Abra Center, as well as the Miyagi Branch, collected donations to support the Center’s activities, raising a total of 4.49 million yen.
The donation ceremony was attended by more than 100 people, including trainees, local residents, and elementary school pupils, and was lively with dancing and other performances.
At the ceremony, Mr. Hitoshi Machimura, Vice President of the Hokkaido Branch said,
“A tractor is a piece of steel, but it is filled with our feelings. We hope that this tractor will be useful for the development of agriculture in Abra.”
Director Tesoso added, “The tractor will be used not only at the training center, but also by the people in the community. Everyone is happy”, expressing his gratitude.
