On October 15, 2025, the coastal conservation campaign “Mageri Segoro “(Creating Sea Shelves), spearheaded by the provincial government, was simultaneously launched across 17 coastal regencies and cities in Central Java, Indonesia. At Kendal Regency’s Kencan Coast, the main venue, Provincial Governor Ahmad Luthfi led a large-scale mangrove planting effort. Amidst a gathering of government officials, local residents, and businesses, 1.3 million trees were planted simultaneously across 150 hectares.
On the day, OISCA, which has been implementing mangrove reforestation projects along the northern coast of Java Island for many years, also participated in the planting at the invitation of the provincial government.
Additionally, the provincial government presented commendation awards to organizations operating within the province, acknowledging the mangrove planting is an effort to protect the livelihoods of coastal residents affected by coastal erosion and sea level rise. OISCA also has been continuing its activities together with resident in five regencies of the same province, and its efforts were recognized with an award. Mr. Prihartanto Rahmat,
