  3. Visit to OISCA Headquarters by Ms. Astrid Schomaker, Executive Secretary of the Secretariat of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity

24 August, 2024

Ms. Astrid Schomaker, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), and two other members of the CBD Secretariat, during their visit to Japan, took time out of their busy schedule to pay a courtesy visit to OISCA Headquarters to see President Etsuko Nakano and Executive Director Yasuaki Nagaishi.

OISCA and the CBD Secretariat signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to implement biodiversity conservation activities at the COP10 meeting held in Nagoya in 2010, which continues to this day. The Green Wave activities as promoted by CBD Secretariat are carried out in conjunction with OISCA’s “Children’s Forest Program,” and tree-planting activities are conducted in 10 countries around the world with the participation of more than 10,000 children every year.
