On June 5 (Wednesday), declared as the World Environment Day by the United Nations, OISCA will carry out a commemorative tree planting activity on Mt. Fuji. The activity will celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the great Indian leader of the national independence movement through nonviolent civil disobedience.

On this occasion, the Embassy of India will donate to OISCA 150 seedlings, including Japanese maple, wild cherry tree, and water oak. To be graced by Mr. Raj Kumar Srivastava, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Indian Embassy, the tree planting ceremony will take place at 1,600-meter above sea level of OISCA`s Mt. Fuji Reforestation Project, part of the UNESCO`s World Cultural Heritage.

The ceremony will be attended by a total of 130 persons including high-ranking officials of Yamanashi Prefecture, Narusawa Village, representatives from Ogino Co.Ltd., and local school children.
